I am thrilled: Rajini

"I am thrilled to be part of ‘Rana’, which is a period film," Superstar Rajinikanth said today in Chennai.

Speaking at the launch of the movie, which is directed by K S Ravikumar and produced by Eros International in association with Soundarya Rajinikanth's Ocher Studios, he said, "It is a challenging task to do a period film. I am sure we will pull it off".

Deepika Padukone plays Rajinikanth's heroine and the movie has cinematography by Rathanavelu and music by A R Rahman. A grand set resembling 17th century has been erected at the AVM Studios, where the film went on floors today.

Karunanidhi visits Rajini

The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi visited Rajinikanth at the St Isabel’s Hospital in Chennai in which the star was admitted. The Superstar was admitted to the hospital after he complained of queasiness while on the sets of Rana. He was rushed to the hospital where the doctors diagnosed him of being dehydrated and advised him complete rest.
The CM, on hearing Rajini’s health condition, rushed immediately to the hospital to enquire about his health. Karunanidhi’s daughter Kanimozhi was also present during this visit.
It may be recalled that Rajini suffered a bout of vomiting when he was shooting for Rana at the AVM Studios and the shooting had to be stalled to rush Rajini to the hospital.

Rajini is perfectly ok

Soon after the news of Rajinikanth being admitted in hospital hit the media, fans were praying for their Superstar's well being and demanded for more news on his health. Rajinikanth's near and dear ones were bombarded with questions about the actor's health and finally his son-in-law Dhanush has given the good news that everyone has been waiting for. Dhanush addressed all the Rajini fans and said, "He is perfectly ok. Just dehydration. Nothing to worry at all. He will be home tonight itself!"
We can definitely take the son-in-law's word for this and looks like the Superstar will be back on his feet in no time. With this, we hope the schedule for Rana will go without any delay. It is known that the muhurat and pooja of Rana took place today at the AVM Studios and the shooting was off to a flying start with director K.Balachandar filming the first shot.

Rajini admitted to hospital

Rajinikanth has been admitted to St Isabel's Hospital in Chennai after he reported some uneasiness in the sets of Rana. The Superstar was immediately rushed to the hospital where the diagnosis revealed food poisoning.

The star was at the AVM Studios this morning where the pooja and first shot of Rana took place. He reportedly ate his lunch after which he complained of uneasiness. The doctors attending to Rajinikanth have advised him to take a few days rest. Looks like Rana shooting will be postponed until Rajini gains his health back.

Vadivelu hits out at Rajini

Vadivelu today flayed Superstar Rajinikanth for reportedly dropping him from his forthcoming film 'Rana'.

Speaking to reporters after calling on Chief Minister and DMK president M Karunanidhi in Chennai today, the comedian said he was not bothered about being dropped from 'Rana'

''Whether it is Rana or Gana...I am not bothered about it'', Vadivelu said, adding: ''The scenes and seasons will change after May 13 (the day when counting of votes polled in Tamil Nadu Assembly elections will take place)."

It is to be noted that Vadivelu came down heavily on Vijayakanth during his election campaign in support of the DMK and this is said to be the reason behind Rajini dropping him from ‘Rana’.

Want to know all about Rana? Here is the news that you’ve been looking for! The film will go on floors tomorrow, 29^th April, 2011. Rana, which is being directed by KS Ravi Kumar, will begin after the customary pooja.
The film will have Rajinikanth playing the hero while Deepika Padukone and Ileana D’Cruz are his onscreen pairs and Sonu Sood is the baddie who will fight Rajini in Rana. Speaking about this film, KS Ravi Kumar has said, “Rana has a strong story, a very interesting ensemble cast of actors coupled with super star Rajinikanth in a triple role and promises to have some stunning visual effects that will surely take Indian cinema to the next level.”
The press note from the producers states, “Eros International along with NextGen Films, will produce the film through Rana Production Ltd., UK.”

Rajini decides on Rana comedian

Rajinikanth has opted for Ganja Karuppu to be his comedian in Rana. There were widespread speculations about who would be his comedian. This speculation has now come to an end with Ganja Karuppu finding a place onboard.
Sources in Kollywood say that Rajini is upset with Vadivelu’s election campaign that he did not want him to be a part of Rana. He has conveyed this to Rana’s director KS Ravi Kumar and he recommended Ganja Karuppu which Rajini immediately agreed to.
It may be recalled that Vadivelu played an important part in Chnadramukhi and Kuselan but did not find a place in Endhiran.

Access Card Security For Rana’s Sets!

Superstar Rajinikanth’s next Tamil flick, under KS Ravikumar’s direction, ‘Rana’s huge sets at AVM Studios have been erected. Sources say that, the shooting will begin on Worker’s Day that is on May 1. A few important scenes and a dance sequence of Superstar with lead lady Deepika Padukone will be shot on May 1.

Deepika sports a whole-new-look in this movie with perfect South Indian makeup and wear. While Ileana plays the love of one of the characters played by Rajini, Tabu will be paired with the Senior Rana in the movie. Sonu Sood of Arundathi fame will play the antagonist in this film. A. R. Rahman is composing the tunes for this period movie and looks like he has already composed a few tunes!

However, the highlight is that the director would like to retain and build upon the surprise element of the movie and so he has issued access cards to the cast and crew of ‘Rana’ who alone can gain entry in the sets, that is to say the eighth floor in AVM Studios.

This is probably the first time in Kollywood, or Indian Film industry where access cards have been issued to gain entry into sets! 

Rana only for a selected few

Rajinikanth’s next film with KS Ravikumar is ready to rock and roll. A colossal set has reportedly been erected at the AVM Studios and all is in readiness for the shoot. The first schedule will begin on May 1^st. Some crucial scenes and a dance sequence with Deepika Padukone will be canned.
The director wants to preserve the surprise elements in the film, so access cards have been issued to crew members so that only select personnel may gain admission to the set. This move is likely to increase an already inflated interest in Rana, a hundred fold.
Deepika will sport a brand new look for this film and will epitomize the Southern beauty. Tabu will be paired up against the patriarch character and Ileana will be the other leading lady. Sonu Sood, who has become famous for his bad guy act in Arundhati and Dabangg, will be the villain in Rana. Interestingly, the actor did a small role and was in a fight sequence with Superstar in Chandramukhi.

Endhiran bags most awards!

The Norway Tamil Film Festival took off on April 20^th and came to an end on April 25^th in a grand manner. Several directors from Kollywood were stationed in Oslo, Norway where this fest was held. One film that caught the attention of all those present there was Endhiran. This Rajinikanth starrer bagged three awards while Madarasapattinam, directed by Vijay, came up with four awards.
Radha Mohan bagged the Best Director award for directing Payanam. The Best Feature Film award went to Myna, directed by Prabhu Solomon. Endhiran was honored with three awards – Best Special Effects, Best Make up and Best Producer.
The Best Costume, Best Art Direction, Best Music and Best Song awards went to Madarasapattinam. The Best Actor award went to Viddarth for Myna and the Best Actress award was bagged by Anjali for Angadi Theru.

தமிழகத்தின் பட்டி தொட்டிகளில் கத்தரி வெயில் சுட்டெரிக்கிறது. கோலிவுட்டில் கூலாக ஏவி.எம் ஸ்டுடியோ ஏ.சி ஃப்ளோரில் போட்டோ செஷன்! சூப்பர் ஸ்டார் 'ரானா' படத்துக்காக ரஜினி தரும் விதவிதமான ஸ்டைலிஸ்ட் ஸ்பெஷல் ஸ்டில்ஸ் எடுக்கப்பட்டது. பாலிவுட்டில் இருந்து தொழில்நுட்பம் மிக்க புகைப்பட நிபுணர்கள் இரண்டு நாள் கோடம்பாக்கத்தில் டேரா போட்டார்கள்.
“வழக்கமா படப்பிடிப்பு இல்லாத நாட்களில் சன்யாசி தோற்றத்தில் வெண்தாடியில் பிரகாசிப்பார் ரஜினி. ஷூட்டிங், போட்டோ செஷன் என்று வந்து விட்டால் அதிகாலை ஐந்து மணிக்கே எழுந்து யோகாவில் ஐக்கியமாகி விடுவார். அதன்பிறகு அவரது முகத்தில் ஒரு தேஜஸ் டாலடிக்கும் பாருங்கள் அப்பப்பா...'' என்று அவரை தினசரி சந்திக்கும் நெருக்கமாக சந்திக்கும் புள்ளிகளே ஆச்சர்யத்தில் வாயடைத்து போகிறார்கள்.
ரஜினியின் மூன்றுவித கெட்டப் போட்டோக்கள் அசத்தல் ரகம். முக்கியமானது அந்தக்கால மன்னன் ரூபத்தில் கருப்பு ப்ளஸ் நரை தாடியில் ரஜினியின் கம்பீரம் மிரட்டலோ மிரட்டல் என்கிறது லைட்பாயின் உதடுகள். இளமை ரஜினிகளின் ஸ்டில்ஸ் அஜீத், விஜய் வயிற்றெரிச்சலை நிச்சயம் வாரிக் கட்டிக்கொள்ளும் என்கிறார்கள். வில்லன் ரஜினி முறைக்கும் வெறித்தமான போஸ்கள் ரசிகர்களில் வீடுகளை அலங்கரிக்க போவது நிச்சயம் என்கிறர்கள்.
'ரானா'வுக்காக சைலன்ட்டாக தீபிகா படுகோன் சென்னை வந்து போட்டோ செஷனில் கலந்து கொண்டார். பல்வேறு கோணங்களில் எடுக்கப்பட்ட ரஜினி ப்ளஸ் தீபிகா போட்டோக்கள் அனைத்தும் அப்படியே பரமரகசியமாக வைக்கப்பட்டு இருக்கிறதாம். படப்பிடிப்பு புறப்படும் நாளில் எல்லா மீடியாக்களிலும் வாள் சுழற்றும் ரஜினியின் வண்ணப்படம் வசீகரமாய் ஜொலிக்கும் என்கிறார்கள்.

கடந்த சில நாட்களுக்கு முன்பு ''அமிதாப் 'ரானா' படத்தில் நடிக்கவில்லை. தப்புத் தப்பாக எழுதாதீங்க...'' என்று கோபத்தில் பொரிந்தார், கே.எஸ்.ரவிக்குமார். 'ராணா'வின் புரொடக்ஷன் எக்ஸ்யூட்டிவ் முரளி மனோகர். 'ஜீன்ஸ்' படத்தின் தயாரிப்பாளர். அமிதாபச்சன் குடும்பத்துக்கு ரொம்ப ரொம்ப நெருக்கமானவர்.
முரளியை பொறுத்தவரை 'ராணா' படத்தில் அமிதாப்பை கெஸ்ட்ரோல் பண்ண வைப்பது ஒன்றும் கம்பசித்திர வேலை இல்லை. சாதாரண சப்பை சமாச்சாரம். திடீரென்று எந்த நேரத்திலும் அமிதாப் நடிக்கலாம் அப்படி நடித்தால் சஸ்பென்ஸாக வைத்திருக்கலாம் என்று நினைத்த சங்கதி இப்படி அப்பட்டமாய் அம்பலத்துக்கு வந்துவிட்டதே என்கிற கோபத்தின் வெளிப்பாடுதான் ரவிக்குமாரின் சீற்றம். 

'ராணா'வின் ஃபர்ஸ்ட் பிரின்ட் தயாரிக்கும் பொறுப்பை முதலில் ரஜினியிடம் கொடுத்த ஈராஸ் நிறுவனம், இப்போது கே.எஸ்.ரவிக்குமார் கைவசம் கொடுத்து இருக்கிறது. ரஜினி சம்பளம் இன்னும் பேசப்படவில்லை.
கொஞ்சமாய் சம்பளம் வாங்கிக் கொண்டு நடித்த 'எந்திரன்'  படம் உலக அளவில் வசூலை வாரிக்குவித்தது. அதனால் ரஜினி 'ரானா' படத்துக்கான சம்பளத்தை முன்கூட்டியே நிர்ணயிக்கவில்லை. 'ரானா' தமிழ், தெலுங்கு, இந்தியில் வெளியான பிறகு மூன்று மொழிகளிலும் குவிக்கும் வசூலில் குறிப்பிட்ட பர்சன்டேஜை சம்பளமாக வாங்க முடிவு செய்துள்ளார், ரஜினி. எடுத்தேன் கவிழ்த்தேன் என்று படத்தை முடிக்காமல் 'ரானா' படத்தின் ஒவ்வொரு கேரக்டரையும் பார்த்து பார்த்து செலக்ட் செய்து வருகிறார், டைரக்டர்.
ஒண்ணரை வருட ஃப்ராஜக்ட். முக்கியமான காட்சிகளின் படப்பிடிப்பிடிப்பு முடியமுடிய அந்தந்த கேரக்டருக்கு தகுந்த நடிகைகளை அவ்வப்போது ஃப்ரீயாக இருந்தால் பயன்படுத்திக் கொள்ள முடிவு செய்துள்ளனர். தேதி தெரியாமல் முன்கூட்டியே நடிகர், நடிகைகளை ஒப்பந்தம் செய்து கொண்டு கால்ஷீட் குழப்பத்தை ஏற்படுத்திக் கொள்ளவேண்டாம் என்பதில் தெளிவாக இருக்கிறது, 'ராணா' யூனிட்.
அதுசரி 'ராணா' என்பதின் அர்த்தம் என்ன? ஆன்மிகத்தில் ரஜினி ரொம்பவும் நேசிக்கும் மகான்கள் ராமகிருஷ்ணர் ப்ளஸ் விவேகானந்தர் இருவரையும்தான். விவேகானந்தரின் இயற்பெயர் நரேந்திரன். அந்த மகான்களின் முதல் எழுத்துக்களை சேர்த்து ( ராமகிருஷ்ணர் , நரேந்திரன் ) 'ராணா' என்று நாமகரணம் சூட்டியுள்ளார், சூப்பர்ஸ்டார்!

ரஜினியின் கடைக்குட்டி சௌந்தர்யாவுக்கு கிரிக்கெட் என்றால் உசுரூ. வேர்ல்டு கப் மேட்ச்சின்போது சூப்பர் ஸ்டாருக்கு சுகவீனம். '' எனக்காக கண்டிப்பா வாப்பா...'' என்று மகள் கெஞ்சலில் மனமுருகிய ரஜினி உடல்நிலைபற்றி கவலைப்படாமல் மும்பைக்கு ஒடோடிச் சென்றாராம். பாலிவுட் நட்சத்திரங்கள் பலர் தங்கள் வீட்டுக்கு அழைத்தும் 'நோ' சொல்லிவிட்டு ஒட்டலிலேயே தங்கி, திரும்பினாராம், ரஜினி!

ரஜினி தனது ராசி கடவுளான ஏவி.எம் ஸ்டுடியோவில் இருக்கும் தனது ராசியான பிள்ளையார் கோயிலில் ஏப்ரல் மாசக் கடைசியில் 'ரானா' படத்துக்கு பூஜை போடுகிறார். முதலில் டூயட் பாடல் காட்சியை படம்பிடிக்க திட்டமிட்டு இருக்கிறார்கள். அதற்காக முயல்குட்டி  தீபிகா படுகோனுடன் அயல்நாடு பறக்கிறார், சூப்பர் ஸ்டார்.

தமிழ், தெலுங்கு, இந்தி என்று மும்மொழிகளில் தயாராகிறது 'ரானா' என்கிற செய்தி புரூடா! ஈராஸ் நிறுவனம் தயாரிப்பதால் இப்படி ஒரு வெளித்தோற்றம் ஏற்பட்டு இருக்கிறது. உண்மையில் தமிழில் மட்டுமே நேரடியாக உருவாகிறது 'ரானா'. இதர மொழிகளில் டப்பிங் மட்டுமே செய்யப்படுகிறது.

ரேகா, மாதிரி தீட்சித் என்று வடநாட்டு முகங்கள் மட்டுமல்ல... தமிழ்நாட்டு நட்சத்திரங்கள் எவருமே ஒப்பந்தம் செய்யப்படவில்லை. தீபிகா படுகோன் ஒன்லி புக்கிங். இந்தி பிசினஸுக்காக தீபிகா ஒப்பந்தம் செய்யப்பட்டு இருப்பதாகச் சொல்வது கடைந்தெடுத்த பொய். பன்னெடுங் காலத்துக்கு முன்பு தாய்பூமியில் நடந்த தமிழ்மன்னனின் கதைதான் 'ரானா'. அசல் தமிழச்சி முகச்சாயல் அமைந்து இருப்பதால் மட்டுமே தீபிகா செலக் செய்யப்பட்டு இருக்கிறார்.
