ENDHIRAN – RELEASE DATE CONFUSIONS!

Looks like the hullabaloo behind Endhiran’s release date will never die down. The movie was speculated to be released in the first week of September but still there are no signs of it. Fresh rumors quoting unconfirmed production sources mention that a new release date, October 8, has been finalized upon. Incidentally, the number eight is supposed to be Shankar’s lucky number.

There are also industry-talks that speculate the movie’s release date to collide with Diwali that falls on November 5. The movie, however, is ready for release and only a release date announcement from the producers will put an end to unverified speculations.

Truly Eye 'Popping': Rajinikanth Matches Aishwarya!

At 60, some individuals turn senile, while others remain their puerile or juvenile selves. And yet, there are a select few who continue to bedazzle despite the onset of age. Case in point: South icon Rajinikanth. At 60, the mega idol has managed to learn the ropes of 'Popping,' the latest "happening" dance form from choreographer Remo D'Souza for S.Shankar's sci fi flick 'Endhiran'/ 'Robot'. ENDHIRAN SINGER IN TOWN

Songs of Rajinikanth starrer Endhiran has been topping the charts ever since it was released. One notable song is 'Kilimanjaro' which has been sung by popular playback singer Javed Ali and Chinmayee. Javed Ali who has sung in films like Sarvam, Vaamanan and Raavan is back in Chennai after a while. Javed, who is the student of noted Ghazal singer Ghulam Ali, will enchant Chennaites with his Ghazal songs. This Ghazal show will be held at the Music Academy in Mylapore.

Rajini leads 80s Star Reunion

The second reunion of the stars of the 80s era was organised by Suhasini Manirathnam and hosted by Lissy Priyadarshan on August 29.

The union this year was more unique than last year because artistes from all the four states assembled for an evening of friendship, art, music and happiness.

Like last year the biggest of them all Rajinikant lead the nostalgia. Other southern super stars like Chiranjeevi, Mohanlal. Venkatesh and Arjun also joined. The one of its kind evening was called 'EVRGREEN 80s' and in total 29 celebrities of the era had a ball.

Rajinikanth, Chiranjeevi, Mohanlal, Venkatesh, Ambareesh, Sarath Kumar, Arjun, Prabhu. Karthik, Mohan, Suresh, Suman, Naresh, Banuchander, Pratal Pothan, Mukesh and Shankar were the male super stars who attended the party.

Ambika. Radha, Suhasini, Radhika, Sumalatha, Poornima Jayaram, Shobhana, Lissy, Revathi, NAdhiya, Ramya krishnan and Kushbu were the female super stars at the party.

நிஜத்திலும் மேக்கப் இல்லாத ஒரே நடிகர் ரஜினிதான். மேக்கப் போடாமல் வெளியில் செல்லும் துணிச்சல் இந்தியாவிலேயே அவர் ஒருவருக்குத்தான் உண்டு என்றார் நடிகர் ப்ருத்விராஜ்.

நான் மிக விரும்பும் நடிகர் சூப்பர் ஸ்டார் ரஜினிதான். திரைக்கு வெளியே எப்போதும் மேக்கப் இன்றி ரஜினியாகவே இருக்க விரும்புகிறார். இருந்தும் வருகிறார்.

தன்னை எந்த நிலையிலும் ரசிக்கும் உண்மையான ரசிகர்களால் அவருக்கு கிடைத்த தைரியம் இது. அவரால் திரைப்படங்கள் மூலம் மக்களிடத்தில் பெற்றுள்ள செல்வாக்கை வேறு எந்த நடிகரும் இதுவரை பெறவில்லை.

சிறு வயதிலேயே எனக்கு மம்முட்டி, மோகன்லாலை தெரியும் ரஜினிக்கு என்னிடத்தில் உள்ள பழக்கத்தை விட மம்முட்டி, மோகன்லாலுக்கு என்னிடம் உள்ள பழக்கம் அதிகம். சிறு வயது முதல் அவர்கள் மடியில் வளர்ந்தவன் நான். ஆனால் அவர்கள் என்னுடைய ஒரு படத்தைக் கூடப் பாராட்டியதில்லை. ஆனால் இந்தியாவின் சூப்பர் ஸ்டார் என்ற பெருமைக்குரிய ரஜினி அப்படி இல்லை.

இப்போதும் ஞாபகம் இருக்கிறது. கோழிக்கோட்டில் கார்கி படப்பிடிப்பில் இருந்தேன். காலை 5.30 மணிக்கு உடற்பயிற்சி செய்ய எழுந்தபோது எனது போனில் சென்னை லேன்ட்லைனில் இருந்து 23 மிஸ்டுகால்கள் இருந்தன. காலை நேரத்தில் கூப்பிட வேண்டாம் என்று உடற்பயிற்சிக்கு சென்றேன்.

6.30 மணியளவில் மீண்டும் அதே நம்பரில் இருந்து அழைப்பு வர எடுத்தேன். பேசியவர் நீங்கள் பிருதிவிராஜா என்றார். ஆம் என்றதும் நேரடியாக ரஜினியே பேசினார். 45 நிமிடங்கள் மொழி படத்தின் காட்சிகளை விவரித்து பாராட்டினார். நான் மலைத்து விட்டேன். அப்போதே என் மனதில் ரஜினிக்குள்ள மரியாதை உயர்ந்து விட்டது.

பொது நிகழ்ச்சிகளுக்கு மேக்கப் போடாமல் செல்லும் ஒரே நடிகர் ரஜினிதான். மம்முட்டியோ, மோகன்லாலோ மேக்கப் இன்றி வெளியே வந்தால் மக்கள் ஏற்றுக் கொள்ள மாட்டார்கள். 'சீ' என்றுதான் சொல்வார்கள். மிகப் பெரிய நடிகர்களான அமிதாப்பச்சன், அனில் கபூர், சிரஞ்சீவி போன்றோரும் விக் வைத்து மேக்கப் போட்டுத்தான் வெளியே வருகிறார்கள்.

ஆனால் ரஜினி தனித்துவம் உள்ள மனிதர். பயமில்லாதவர். அவர் மக்களிடத்தில் பெற்றுள்ள செல்வாக்கை வேறு எந்த நடிகராலும் பெற முடியாது என்றார்.

மீண்டும் மாறுகிறது எந்திரன் ரிலீஸ் தேதி?

எந்திரன் இசை வெளியீட்டு விழாவில், ‘அடுத்த மாதம் எந்திரன் வெளியாகும்’ என்று சன் பிக்சர்ஸ் அறிவித்திருந்தது.

இந்தி ரோபோ வெளியீட்டு விழாவில் பேசிய இயக்குநர் ஷங்கர், செப்டம்பரில் படம் வெளியாகும் என்று கூறினார். ரஜினியும் அவ்வாறே தெரிவித்தார்.

ஆனால் இப்போது, படத்தின் ரிலீஸ் தேதி மேலும் இரு வாரங்களுக்கு தள்ளிப் போகக் கூடும் என்று செய்திகள் வெளியாகியுள்ளன.

“செப்டம்பர் 24-ம் தேதி படம் வெளியாகும் என்று முதலில் எங்களுக்குச் சொல்லப்பட்டது. ஆனால் இப்போது அக்டோபர் 8-ம் தேதி என்று சொல்லியிருக்கிறார்கள்…,” என்றார் ஒரு விநியோகஸ்தர்.

ஒரு பக்கம் போஸ்ட் புரொடக்ஷன் பணிகள் இன்னும் நடந்து கொண்டுள்ளன. இன்னொரு பக்கம் எந்திரனின் தமிழக, உலக உரிமைக்கான விலையைப் பேசி முடிக்காமல் உள்ளது சன் பிக்சர்ஸ். எனவே இந்த இரண்டு முக்கிய வேலைகளும் நிறைவுக் கட்டத்துக்கு வரும்போதுதான் உறுதியான தேதியைச் சொல்ல முடியும் என்கிறது எந்திரன் யூனிட்.

இயக்குநர் ஷங்கருக்கு ராசியான தேதி 8 என்பதால் அக்டோபர் 8- அன்றே ரிலீஸை வைத்துக் கொள்ளத் திட்டமிடப்பட்டுள்ளதாக சிலர் செய்தி வெளியிட்டுள்ளனர். ஆனால் சாதனைகள் படைத்த ‘சிவாஜி” 8-ம் தேதி வெளியிடப்படவில்லை. ஜூன் 15-ம் தேதிதான் வெளியானது என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது!

Rajni’s Secret Video, Rajinikanth Latest Secret Videos

Rajinikanth who dedicated himself fully for Endhiran for two long years has now started his favourite journeys that will give himself satisfaction. During the shooting of Endhiran, Rajni has not gone out on any trip. At any point of situation, Rajni has the habit of visiting his friends in Bangalore but he did not go to Bangalore at all.

While shooting for the film he stayed fully at his farm house in Kelambakkam. During this time he had built houses for 40 of his employees who had been at his service for more than 10 years at the farm house itself.
Rajni’s daughter Soundarya’s marriage is to be held on September 3rd. Endhiran is to be released during the month of September. After the release of this film Rajni will leaving for Himalayas. But this time he is not going to Baba’s cave but to Mansarovar Kailash. He had completed the travel arrangements within a short time.
Rajni always has the habit of taking his special friends to Baba’s cave. But this time he is taking a new set of friends with him. Top Industrialists are also in this friend’s list. They also love peace and simplicity like Rajni.
Usually Rajni has the habit of going to Mantralayam to worship Raghavendra and meditate for three days before commencing any new film. But for unknown reasons Rajni has not gone to Mantralayam before the commencement of the shooting of Endhiran. But when Shankar announced that the film Endhiran has been completed, Rajni left to Mantralayam.
After three day meditations Rajni left to Bangalore in taxi. But he never went to his house at Race Course Road. But he stayed in an ordinary lodge in the suburbs of Bangalore. He had contacted a mechanic at Kalasipalayam bus depot and asked him to meet. When Rajni was a conductor that person was a close friend of him.
The whole night he spoke about the olden days. He slept for some time and got up early and asked the driver to park at the backside of a hotel in Kalasipalayam. He got down and went straight to the owner Gopinath’s room. Gopinath who never expected Rajnikanth was shocked. When Rajni worked in the Kalasipalayam bus depot, he use to spend his time in this hotel only.
Gopinath is also one of the people who had instigated Rajni to go to Chennai. Rajni was served with a hot masala dosa. Treating himself with the dosa, he spoke to Gopinath with an open heart about many matters. When the news leaked that Rajni was there, the staff crowded the room.
Rajni who is normally jittery about the crowd took it very casually. One of the staff because of his interest started video recording the talks of Gopinath and Rajnikanth. Rajni was little reluctant. But the staff said,” You come here only once in a way. So we will watch this video at other times. Let this film be an exclusive film for us by Endhiran.” Rajni smilingly agreed for this. The video’s duration is 15 minutes.
Gopinath has planned to edit and mix and release this clipping after the release of Endhiran. During this meet Rajni has shared some interesting experiences with film and political people. Since that was also recorded, Rajni friends in Bangalore say that this video will be very sensational.

SHAH RUKH RETURNS IT TO SHANKAR

Director Shankar was in talks with Shah Rukh Khan for Robot (Endhiran in Tamil) but it fizzled out due to reasons best known to the duo. Later, Shankar went on to direct the film with Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai in the lead and the film is due to be released in September.

But director Shankar was caught in a fix when Shah Rukh registered the titled Robot and reported to the press that he would soon commence a film by that name. However, the issue was amicably sorted out with the actor-producer transferring the rights on the title to Shankar.

ROBOTS BEFORE THE ROBOT

Solo

Much like Terminator; a machine built purely for destruction for use in war zones. But, Solo is not just a mean machine as the makers soon find out. Lost in the jungles, the robot begins to see, learn and feel new things, finds new people and develops an opinion on war, learning to take sides, not just blindly following orders. And, when this comes to be known, an even more advanced mean machine is sent to terminate the one that has violated command. Who wins, advanced technology or technology that has learnt to judge for itself.

Inspector Gadget

Almost all movies revolving around robots have dealt with violence, complex instruction, or at best, emotions. But, Inspector Gadget was on a lighter vein, choosing to take the funnier side of machines. Here, the robot is part-human and part-machine and as a result is not flawless. The basic premise is about how funny and goofy a robot can get when it has a rather ‘over the top’ idea about its abilities. The robot is actually in serious pursuit of a stereotypical villain and sees nothing funny in his adventures. But he is not close to being as powerful, effective or fast as he thinks he is, giving rise to many a funny moment. For once, this is one robot movie which does not necessitate debates about whether or not Asimov’s laws were violated and how.

Robocop

When crime gets too rough and gruesome, it is beyond the men in uniform to bring the perpetrators to the law. Where lives can be lost, it is best to send in a machine which is invincible. Thus, Robocop was made. The movie had the interesting premise of a robot being constructed using the dead body of a police officer as a framework. The result proves to be the ideal law enforcer. The interesting part, however, is that the Robocop is not as ruthless or violent as other machines invented for the same purpose. Robocop follows all directives and is not just a killing mean machine. The reason for that, as hinted towards the end of the film, is the part-human nature that it possesses because of being constructed on a human framework.

I Robot

What happens when robots read too much into the instructions that they are given? What happens when the interpretation of commands is not simple, but involves judging of the relevance of the command and ensuing action in context with the larger picture of the wellbeing of humanity? What happens when robots start to outthink humans and overdo their own duty in such a way that mankind is endangered? That is what I Robot explored. The robots in this movie have not turned against mankind, nor do they have evil intentions. They have just become a little more intelligent than necessary, overlooking simple directives in favor of keeping the larger goal in tact. It gives rise to big trouble as robots begin to realize that the biggest enemy of mankind is man himself and thus decide to take over the world and run it in a way that mankind stops its self-destructive activities. A very interesting paradox wherein a machine built to serve man begins to lord over him in order to serve him better! A perfect elucidation of the saying, ‘science is a good servant, but a bad master!’

Bicentennial Man

If there was one film that did not choose to explore the destructive physical powers of a robot, it has to be bicentennial man. Robot films over decades have focused on one main aspect, ‘What happens when they go out of control?’ And, always the outcomes have been depicted as violent and horrific for man, with the robot going on the path of destruction. In Bicentennial Man too we have a robot which start showing more abilities and traits than it was supposed to possess. But, here, he is not violent or destructive; instead he is creative, compassionate and conscientious. The film is about his evolution from being just a machine to being a personality with emotional needs like love, freedom and knowing the purpose of his existence. The emotional growth of a robot peaks when he feels the desire to be accepted as a human being and is willing to give up his immortality if that is what it takes for the society to accept him as one among them. One of the most unique takes on robots and their unexpected developments!

A great concept which failed to materialize into a great movie!

Terminator Series

This was perhaps the first franchise which made us think of robots as good themes for movies. Till then, robots existed mostly in comic books and novels, to be experienced only by science fiction fans. But, Terminator, merging the sci-fi ‘android from the future’ concept with the raw mainstream commercial power of Arnold Schwarzenegger made robots an interesting and in-demand premise of the industry. The most wanted film of the franchise, which now consists of four films including Terminator Salvation, is definitely the second installment Judgment Day, which are a cult sci-fi as well as action classic that took Arnold to global popularity. No one needs much introduction to the theme of the Terminator franchise. It is all about the war between machines and mankind for supremacy on earth. The machines send an advanced cyborg into the past to destroy the leader of the human resistance while he is still young and mankind in turn sends in a much inferior but strong willed android (Arnold) to protect the leader. Does mankind survive? By the end of the third movie of the franchise, it is all but clear that the machines, led by the Skynet program, have taken over earth leaving only a glimmer of hope for humans to reclaim their land.

The main features of the android (Arnie) in this franchise were lack of emotion, single word answers, complete subordination to human orders and most importantly, not causing any human casualty, just the way Asimov wanted robots to be. While, it is no surprise that the evil cyborg was just the opposite.

RAJINI’S INVITATION TO THE HOLLYWOOD STAR

There are reports that Rajinikanth has invited the popular Hollywood star Richard Gere for his youngest daughter Soundarya’s wedding. The Superstar has already invited the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, the AIADMK supremo J Jayalalitha, film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Chiranjeevi and Mammooty. Endhiran audio release celebrations at Seattle, US

Seattle has been tradionally one of the bastions of fort for Super Star Rajnikanth fans in the USA. Case in point – Seattle was one of the few cities that celebrated the 50th and 100th days of Sivaji – The Boss by having special screenings for the local fans. So, needless to say, the excitement leading upto the audio release of Enthiran was unprecedented, to put it mildly. The fact that the CDs arrived means that the fans had ample time to plan for the launch in their own unique way.

Super star Rajni Fans from Seattle and Portland joining and celebrating the Enthiran audio cds release in Seattle.This celebration was presided by Seattle Rajni Fans Lead volunteer Mr.Sahanathan.

The much-awaited CDs arrived at the local Indian store here in Redmond on Monday, 16th August, a good 2 weeks after the CDs were released elsewhere in the world. Around 50 of the fans gathered at Mayuri Food & Videos store here in Redmond, to receive the CD and buy the same as the CDs were being unloaded. Posters of the movie were plastered all over the store while at the same time, the consolidated HQ version of the trailers was playing in a non-stop loop on the big-screen TV, as the fans bought the CDs from the store. Fans from the adjoining states of Oregon & Idaho also joined in the festivities. The audio CDs release has served as the perfect platform for the impending explosion – the actual release of the what is undoubtedly the biggest ever movie in the history of Tamil cinema.
