Sivaji to be dubbed in Hindi

With Tamil cinema super star Rajnikanth's latest blockbuster Sivaji -- The Boss still running to packed houses in some pockets outside south India, the producers of the film have decided to dub it in Hindi and are planning a post-Diwali release.

“Sivaji will be dubbed in Hindi as the response for the film in Delhi, Mumbai and other major cities outside South India has been overwhelming”, said S C Babu, CEO of AVM Productions.

“Some portions of the film will be re-shot to cater to the Hindi-speaking audience and Rajnikanth will dedicate three to four days in shooting”, Babu said

Asked whether Rajnikanth will dub his voice in Hindi, Babu said,”Indications are that he is unlikely to do the dubbing”.

However, the length of the film will be reduced to two and half hours from the existing three-hour duration as most of the Bollywood films do not exceed the time limit of 150 minutes.

Even though some of Rajnikanth's films were screened outside Tamil Nadu earlier, Sivaji got a rousing response from people who thronged theatres in major cities such as Delhi and Mumbai.

“Sivaji -- The Boss has proved that language is not a barrier when it is Rajnikanth”, Babu said.

Swanand Kirkire is penning the dialogues for the dubbed version and is likely to finish his work by October. “But we are planning a post-Diwali release. We don't want to release a dubbed version during the festive season”, he said.

The film, which is likely to be released by the end of November, will be screened in not less than 300 theatres across the country.

Sivaji -- The Boss is still making huge money in over 15 theatres in Chennai and its suburbs. It was released in more than 500 theatres across the state on 15 June while the Telugu dubbed version was released in 350 theatres.

The film is about the protagonist's fight against black money in society, which Rajnikanth did in his own trademark style with a combination of punch dialogues, comedy, romance, songs and colourful costumes.

Manirathnam next venture with Rajnikanth ?

Grapevine is abuzz with rumors that Rajnikanth has finalized his next project. A couple of visits by Rajnikanth to director Mani Ratnam’s office in Chennai have sparked off rumours that the two would come together for a movie next.

After Guru, Mani Ratnam was supposed to commence his next starring Aamir Khan. However with the actor’s Tamil remake Ghajini getting delayed; sources say Mani Ratnam would venture to do a movie with Rajnikanth.

Rajnikanth and Mani Ratnam last came together for Tamil blockbuster Thalapathy released in 1991.

Produced and directed by Mani Ratnam himself, Thalapathy featured Mammootty, Shobana and Bhanu Priya besides Rajnikanth.

Sivaji - even in Rajasthan

Dear Sir,I’m a regular visitor and fan of Behindwoods website. It’s really mind blowing that we are getting all news just like hot cake from your website. Keep going. Please attach this information in Sivaji Worldwide opening column. Some snaps are also attached herewith. I was waiting for the past 3 weeks for the release of Sivaji. But I know it’s not possible to release Sivaji in Jaipur because there are very few Tamilians here. The south Indian community are comparatively lesser than other North Indian Cities. But after 3 weeks and due to unbelievable box-office collections in North Indian cities, Space INOX Multiplex released “Sivaji” last Friday (06-07-07). No one can believe that a Tamil movie got released in Jaipur. Despite the release of 3 Hindi movies last weekend, Sivaji is running to packed houses until now. I tried to get ticket but I can manage to get ticket only on Sunday. The response is mind blowing. Even a lot of curious North Indians are turning up to see what is so special in this movie. That's why this movie is still running with full houses and also advance booking is going great guns. It seems that this will continue for a long run in Jaipur. Now once again Thalaivar has proved that "East or West Superstar is the Best".

Kamal as Rajini

Dasavatharam is one of the most awaited movie of the year and When Kamal haasan is donning ten different get ups for this movie it really can't get bigger than this. No images of the movie is out yet but many people cashed in on the hype by creating their own fake images of Dasavatharam. And to utilize this opportunity to better use Behindwoods.com came up with the unique "give make-up for Dasavatharam kamal" contest to get out the creative side of the visitors. Where visitors can download the images of Kamal haasan and using their imagination edit the photo to give a new Dasavatharam look.
And since the time the contest was publicized many enthusiastic visitors started flooding our mail ids with their creative works. Some of the pictures are so popular that people started believing it is true, Check out this work from a very innovative visitor who have incorporated the two legends Kamal haasan and Rajni kanth to give you "Kamal Kanth".

Its not just your proficiency with the photo editing software that will count, but also your innovative thinking. If you are interested in proving your creative talent this is the right opportunity

Rajnikanth - the real Superstar

His previous movie grossed almost Rs.100 crore according to unofficial sources, and according to official sources like this document, Chandramukhi grossed Rs.60 crore, while the years biggest hit Lage Raho Munnabhai was at Rs.66 crores. The document also ranks him as the highest paid actor in at Rs.19 crore a film. Even the Khans don't seem to able to demand that much! So much for being the most famous stars of Bollywood! In fact, he is revered so much across the state in which he stays that his name is never taken in isolation, it is always either accompanied by Superstar or replaced with Thalaivar (meaning Leader in Tamil)! With his latest film lined up for release on June 15th, there is a hype that surrounds the (just released) promotional material of the movie that surpasses the fame of a Khan hit movie post release! The only known promotional material is available here. Check it out! Superstar looks younger by a few decades (he is on the wrong side of the fifties now, I guess)!Sivaji - the boss is being touted as the movie that's going to rock not only Tamil Nadu, but even Japan, where the Superstar has a loyal fan base so much that PM Manmohan Singh once mentioned that Rajnikanth helped Indo-Japanese ties. The NRIs in various parts of the world are awaiting the release of this movie with bated breath. Rajni movies are big grossers worldwide partly because of the vast spread of the South Indian population across the world and partly because of the charm, charisma and magnetism of our Superstar!"Sivaji - the boss" also sees the coming together of three legends of the Tamil Film Industry for the first time. Rajnikanth-A.R. Rahman-Shankar(director). In fact, maybe I should add a fourth one that stands by the name of AVM Productions - one of the oldest production houses in the history of Indian cinema. A.R. Rahman needs no introduction to the world today. Shankar happens to be the most successful director of all the contemporary directors in Tamil industry. His previous release Anniyan, with National Award winner Vikram in the main role, was the second biggest grosser (Rs.57 crore) of the year behind Chandramukhi and was based on Multiple Personality Disorder with a powerful social message. Shankar has developed this unique and difficult ability to drive home social messages through a purely commercial framework. Though the effectiveness of such methods can be debated upon forever, the success is there for everyone to see. What remains to be seen is whether Sivaji - the boss will rake in the moolah as expected. Rumoured to have sold for close to Rs.7 crores per territory, it is expected that the opening of the movie is going to be something the industry hasn't seen yet and will probably take another Rajni release to emulate this! All in all, the wait is getting to be very desperate. I for one will be seen in the queues the day the plans open for this movie. Want to watch it with all the fanfare that surrounds the first day of a Rajni movie. The frenzy generated by his movies are to be seen and experienced with the junta and not by sitting in box seats in the cozy comfort of the balcony class! The noise that emanates on seeing the Superstar appear on the screen with one alphabet-by-one is to be experienced in the theatre. The mangalarthis on the appearance of the superstar on the silver screen, the coin-throwing, the instant dances in the aisles, the frenzied tears in some eyes, the energy, the music and the celebration is an experience that only the real Superstar can offer. Rajni is the real Superstar of our time. Period.

Sivaji - Box Office Reports

Box office flash 28: Sivaji's record in Tiruchendur & Tiruthani!
Date : 24/08/07
Sivaji already broke all box office records in Tamil Nadu and creating new records day by day.
Records have been created in the following segments in all areas.
1) The price that theatres paid for the movie
2) Number of theatres released Sivaji in the same town.
3) Total number of shows in first week
4) Total number of special shows screened while the movie running
5) Total number of audiences
6) Price of the ticket Vs. normal rate after the revision of ticket rates by Government.
7) Days running in theatres.
Sivaji's record in Lord Muruga's auspicious pilgrim centres of Tiruthani and Tiruchendur
Let us see in How Sivaji is creating record in Tiruchendur in segment 7
Sivaji's triump in Tiruchendur
Sivaji was released in Gnanakumar for 4 shows and still running there. The movie performance was amazing for the first month with houseful shows. Now the movie is running average in weekdays and 80% in weekends. Auspicious days are ahead in this spiritual town of Lord Muruga and the movie is expected to do better in coming Avani month of Tamil Calendar.
You know in the same town there is a theatre called Krishna (Chandramukhi released here) They screened Veeraappu. Veerappu is termed as a hit movie by trade circles, you might know that. (This is the only movie which was termed as hit movie by trade sources after Sivaji's release). Now after 17 days Veerappu has been removed in this theatre and Mozhi has been screened as second release. But Sivaji is still running here and that too four shows. The capacity of a declared hit movie is just 17 days but Boss is still running here. (This is a record!!) By this simple logic, you can understand how big must be Sivaji's hit.
Many theatres which removed Sivaji after (7th week) 50 days and screened new movies could not able to get sufficient audiences for second week. Whereas Sivaji attracted good number of audiences in the 7th week. They are feeling very much for removing Sivaji. Because during weekends they were reaping hefty amount as collections for Sivaji.
Record as per segment 5: Aadi Special shows at Tiruthani Golden
You might be aware that Sivaji is now running in Mini Golden in Tiruthani which has a seating capacity of 250 +.
According to reports - during the auspicious day of Aadi Pooram and Aadi Krithigai they screened 8 special shows of Sivaji continuously. Remember this was at the 10th week. (This is a record!!)

Rajini & Kamal not to participate

It’s the year of celebration for Tamil cinema as it steps its foot on its 75th birthday. To celebrate the occasion, the president of Tamil Cinema Federation Sarathkumar earlier planned to conduct a star night in Malaysia and Singapore in August. It was also informed that the non-attendees of this event would receive a red card.
Despite this announcement and due to non-availability of many big names, the star night was however postponed to January for which many thought all the kingpins would grace the event with their presence. However, as it turned out that, Rajini and Kamal Haasan are said to have turned down the invitation.
Besides, it is also rumored that many stars feel awkward attending such star nights on a regular basis, which are conducted mainly for raising money. And it seems many would actually turn their back to the invitation. As the two biggies have shown their disinterest, others might just follow suit.
Now it is for the world to see how the Supreme star handles this situation.source:Behindwoods

History

Rajinikanth was born on December 12 1949 in Karnataka, India. He was the fourth child to his parents Ramabai and Ramoji Rao Gaekwad. His original name was Shivaji Rao Gaekwad. He lost his mother at the age of five. He had his schooling at the Acharya Patasala in Bangalore and then at the Vivekananda Balak Sangh, a unit of the Ramakrishna Mission. His mother tongue is Marathi, though he has not done any movie in it.
Before starting his career in the film industry, he had to take up all sorts of odd jobs. He served as a bus conductor for Karnataka state transport corporation in Bangalore. It was during this time that he nurtured his acting interests by performing in various stage plays.

Rajinikanth (born Shivaji Rao Gaekwad on December 12, 1949) is an Indian film actor. He began his career doing various jobs in Karnataka, while also attending a theatre for stage plays, to follow his dream to act. After five years of critically acclaimed and negative roles in Indian films, Rajinikanth gained the Indian cinema’s attention in 1980 by playing the dual roles of Indiran and Chandran in Thillu Mullu , his first blockbuster and since then he has acted in over a hundred and fifty Indian films earning him the prestigous title of Superstar. It is often accused that his superstardom prevented him from showing his full acting range in his later films, and he was confined to just mouthing punch dialogues and jingoism.

An accomplished dramatic actor and celebrity, he received India’s third highest civilian honour, The Padmabhushan for his services to Indian cinema in 2000. Rajinikanth performs predominantly in leading roles in high-budget and major studio films, ranging from romantic comedies and drama to action thrillers. His most popular films include Thillu Mullu (1980), Thee (1981) Thalapathi (1991), and Chandramukhi (2005).

Early life

Rajinikanth was born on December 12 1949 in Karnataka, India. He was the fourth child to his parents, Jija bai and Ramoji Rao Gaekwad. His original name was Sivaji Rao Gaekwad. He lost his mother at the age of five. He had his schooling at the Acharya Patasala in Bangalore and then at the Vivekananda Balak Sangh, a unit of the Ramakrishna Mission. His mother tongue is Marathi, though he has not done many films in it.
Acharya Patashala-The school Rajanikanth went to.Before starting his career in the film industry, he had to take up all sorts of odd jobs. He served as a bus conductor for Karnataka state transport corporation in Bangalore. It was during this time that he nurtured his acting interests by performing in various stage plays.
Acting career

A friend helped him to join the Madras Film institute where Rajinikanth completed basic acting course in 1974 at the age of 25.[citation needed]

He started his acting career in Kannada in the movie Kathaa Sangama, directed by Puttanna Kanagal, in 1976.

In Tamil, he started with playing supporting roles, beginning as a cancer patient in Apoorva Raagangal (1975), directed by K. Balachander, who assigned him his stage name Rajnikanth. After several villainous roles, his first positive role was Bhuvana Oru Kelvikkuri (1979), in which Rajnikanth played a failed lover in the first half and a do-gooder in the second.

After several films in the Eighties, he played a Hindu saint in his 100th movie, Sri Raghavendra. Many others followed, among them dramas, comedies (notably ‘Thillu Mullu’, a remake of Amol Palekar’s Golmaal) and, at the end of the eighties, action-oriented family entertainers like Velaikkaran and Manidhan.

Annamalai, which released in 1992, was the first Rajini film to gross almost Rs. 100 million at the box office.

Unlike the eighties, several movies during his nineties were successful, like Muthu or Basha. At 53, his Baba released amid fanfare. Although the film grossed enough to cover its budget, it was viewed as a miserable showing and fell short of market expectations accumulating heavy losses for the distributors. Rajnikanth himself returned the losses back to the distributors who had immense faith in him. The whole affair cost him dear in terms of repute of making a comeback.

Chandramukhi, a remake of the Malayalam movie Manichitrathazhu. Chandramukhi was claimed as one of the most successful Tamil films ever as it ran in theatres (particularly in one theatre in Mount Road, Chennai) for over 600 days since release and still running. His next film, Sivaji: The Boss, directed by S. Shankar will be released in 2007.

Apart from Tamil, Rajnikanth has acted in over 160 movies, including Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi and Bengali. He has also acted in a Hollywood movie Bloodstone in 1988.

Rajnikanth was awarded the Padma Bhushan award in the year 2000 and was rated as one of the most influential persons in South Asia by Asiaweek. Rajnikanth has won the Filmfare Best Actor Award, South on 2 occasions. He is the highest paid actor in Indiaand the second highest paid actor in Asia after Jackie Chan

Rajinikanth was requested by his fans for many years to stand in the State election of Tamil Nadu, but has consistently resisted entering politics directly. But he did some indirect attempts in politics by announcing support to a Political Party in Tamil Nadu

Rajini, the real mantra of Tamil Nadu. There are fan associations across Tamil Nadu dedicated to him. Many more than for any other Tamil star, past or present. Rajinikanth, the carpenter-turned-coolie-turned-conductor-turned Super Star says: “I couldn’t have asked God for more.”

A bit of a recluse, Rajni may be. But everyone who’s had the privelege of a darshan with the thalaivar has come away with a spring in his step and a warm glow in the heart. Warm, friendly and affable, he’s the sort who deserves all the superstardom he’s earned. S

It’s been 25 years, believe it or not, since the Periya Thalaivar (big boss) made his debut with an inconsequential role in a Tamil film. From villain and antihero to blockbuster supernova, the gifted actor has made the most of every outing. And he’s deserved every bit of the success.

It’s a wide angle shot. A man is seen opening a gate, dressed in rags and smoking a beedi. A terminally ill disease writ large on his face. Precisely on that frame appears the Sanskrit term shruthi bedham, coupled with an off screen voice, an undoubtedly inauspicious start to any debutante’s first screen appearance, especially in the maiden frame.

The film was Apoorva Raagangal (1975). The film itself was thick in controversy, and nobody took notice of the young newcomer, who was on screen barely for fifteen minutes, muttered a few apologetic words to the wronged woman and ultimately died an unsung, unheroic death.

No one in the audience, even in his wildest imagination, would have thought this nondescript man, who had won the least attention in the film would ever win over millions of hearts in Tamil Nadu. Or ride the state like a colossus. Or even that his sway over the masses would be so intense that he could rewrite the fate of Tamil Nadu politics, exactly two decades after the release of his first film.

K Balachander, the director who has an uncanny knack of creating stars, first met Rajnikant at the film institute, where he was a student. Balachander glanced at the dark young man and crisply asked him to meet him in his office the next day. When Rajnikant walked into his office gingerly, Balachander informed him he was going to act in his next film. Overwhelmed by the sudden offer from a ‘big’ director, Rajnikant just could not believe his ears. It’s a feeling Rajni still recounts whenever in the mood of reminiscence.

Later, Balachander confided in his close friend and associate Ananthu, “Watch out! There is a fire in the young man’s eyes. One day he will take Tamil Nadu by storm.” How true the prediction turned out!

Producers went all out to capitalise on this new “wonder” called Rajnikant, and a string of films projecting him as an anti-hero, with all his stylish mannerisms in full swing, were released in quick succession. Gayathri had him shooting blue films of his wife without her knowledge, Bhairavi, Shankar Salim Simon and the like. Rajni had, by now, become an indisputable star in his own right, a force to reckon with.

Though Rajnikant persistently refers to K Balachander as his “guru”, it was director SP Muthuraman who actually revamped Rajni’s image entirely. Muthuraman first experimented with him in a positive role in Bhuvana Oru Kelvikkuri, as a villain in the first half and a refined man in the second, accepting a woman with a child ditched by her lover. The success of Bhuvana Oru Kelvikkuri prompted SPM to make a mushy melodrama with Rajni as a hero sacrificing everything for his siblings, a role ideally tailormade for Sivaji Ganesan! That film was Arulirunthu Arupathu Varai, in which Rajni’s mannerisms were totally missing and he even appeared as an old man in the last few frames. Even while the film was in the making, Rajni had misgivings about whether the audience would accept him in tear jerkers of this kind. But the film got made and its box-office success made Rajni popular among women audiences, too. These two films were a turning point in Rajni’s career — he changed from an actor who merely enthralled the audiences, to one who also made them weep. The acceptance of Rajni sans his mannerisms proved he’d at last become an actor from a star. Around this time came Mullum Malarum, directed by J Mahendran, which established Rajni as a hero with a slight tinge of the negative.

Rajnikant’s entry may have been humble, in an insignificant role but the success he achieved in a very short span was unimaginable. A popular Tamil magazine brought out a special supplement at a time when his still on the make, and, he presto, the magazine’s sales doubled with that issue alone.

Such mass adulation, the thunderous rain of applause when Rajni delivered his lines, all put together, made him a phenomenon. It was at this point that Rajni realised the onus had been thrust on him. The fate of producers hinged on him alone. This sudden exposure to the glare of the media and the popularity and money he never imagined would be his, created a lot of stress in his mind. At that crucial time in his career when his market price had just begun to zoom, he decided to opt out of films completely, sending shock waves to his fans. Balachander, Kamalhaasan and his other well-wishers somehow, coaxed him into staying on.

The second phase of his life started with K Balaji’s Billa, a superhit disproving the canard spread by detractors that Rajnikant was “finished”. He was accepted as a full-fledged hero. Billa was followed by a row of hits like Pokkiri Raja, Thanikkattu Raja, Naan Mahaan Alla and the all-important Moondru Mugham, in which Rajni essayed a triple role. Even two decades after its release, the last continues to be a box-office draw and Rajni’s fans can never tire of the thalaivar’s verbal clash with villain Senthamarai. K Balachander’s first home production, Nettrikkam proved to be yet another milestone in Rajni’s career.

An analysis of Rajni’s career graph shows a remarkable absence of fits and starts. It has been a slow and steady rise to the very top. As Rajni sings in a hit song from Badshah, a man’s life may be divided into eight divisions. Rajni’s own career may be divided into three segments. The first as a villain, the second as a hero with negative traits, and the third and present phase, as the reigning czar of Tamil filmdom. With Rajni’s films fetching crores and his market price skyrocketing, the costs of production of his films became unmanageable. And Rajni has since had to stick to a one film per year formula, sometimes, he could do a film once in two years.

The new trend where his films’ collections exceed normal regional film expectations started off with Badshah, followed by Annamalai, Arunachalam, Ejaman, Muthu and Padayappa. It’s now an accepted fact that only a Rajnikant film can break records set by his own films.

As an actor, Rajnikant’s greatest asset, apart from his style is his sense of humour and comic timing. Like Amitabh Bachchan is popular for his drunken soliloquies, Rajnikant is famous for his comic encounters with snakes, repeated umpteen times.

In the early 80s, Rajnikant made a foray into Bollywood with Andhaa Kanoon, a superhit. But Rajnikant could not concentrate on Hindi films because he was already safely ensconced down South. He still made a few films in Hindi, to mention specially Chaalbaaz which had Sridevi in a dual role. Rajni also enjoys a special kind of popularity in Telugu films and his Peddarayudu (remake of Tamil hit Nattammai) seems to have broken all previous records. The Telugu version of Padayappa has been a money-spinner, too. Rajnikant became a trendsetter recently with his Muthu and its songs becoming a rage in Japan and now, Padayappa running to packed houses in the UK and USA.

Basically a religious person, Rajnikant has always owned up his faith. “I was brought up by the Ramakrishna Mission and it’s from there that I have inherited this religious frame of mind,” he keeps saying. Even his films have him openly sharing his faith. In Arunachalam he mouths that famous line, “God decides and Arunachalam executes it.” His public meetings are always spiced with humour and embellished with anecdotes from mythology.

Married to Lata, an English literature graduate, hailing from an elite Iyengar family in 1980, Rajni has two daughters who are carefully kept away from the limelight. Lata herself a versatile singer, now runs a school called The Ashram. The couple indulges in a lot of charity, the latest being converting his Raghavendra Kalyana Mandapam into a charitable trust to help the poor and needy.

Ego and starry airs are unknown to Rajnikant. During breaks he hardly ever rushes to his air-conditioned makeup room. Instead, he prefers to sleep on the sets, even without a pillow, merely covering his eyes with a wet cloth. He never comes to functions with a retinue behind him and even prefers to drive his own car.

Rajnikant’s phenomenal success and his sway over the masses make people speculate whether he will follow the footsteps of the late MGR and enter politics. Though there has been a lot of pressure on him to enter politics by the likes of actor turned journalist, Cho Ramaswamy (“Rajnikant is the best choice for chief ministership because he has a basic integrity and simplicity, a quality which is very rare these days”) Rajnikant has persistently maintained a diplomatic silence, except for the fact that he openly supported the ruling DMK in the last assembly elections and discreetly in the recent Lok Sabha elections. When pressed, Rajnikant answers in his own inimitable style, “Yesterday I was a conductor, today I’m a star, tomorrow what I’ll be only He knows!”

A bit of a recluse, he may be at heart, but everyone who’s had the privilege of a darshan with the thalaivar has come away with a spring in his step, and a warm glow in his heart. Warm, friendly and affable, he’s the sort who deserves all the superstardom he’s earned. Such men, indeed, are rare.
Politics
1995 Announced that he is willing to support the Congress party after meeting Prime Minister Narasimha Rao. An opinion poll conducted by Kumudam magazine predicted that Congress with Rajini support may win upto 130 seats in Tamilnadu Assembly
1996 Congress decided to align with AIADMK. Rajinikanth supported DMK-TMC alliance. DMK-TMC alliance used Rajini photos extensively in political campaigning. Rajini uttered “Even God cannot save Tamilnadu if AIADMK returns to power”.
1998 Rajinikanth supported the DMK-TMC alliance in parliamentary elections. SUN TV broadcast Rajini’s speech throughout the day of the election.AIADMK-BJP alliance won around 30 out of 39 seats riding on sympathy wave generated by Coimbatore bomb blasts.
2002 Rajini undertook one day fasting condemning Karnataka’s decision to not to release Cauvery water to Tamilnadu. Announced that he would contribute 10 Million rupees towards interlinking of Indian rivers scheme. He met Prime Minister Vajpayee and many experts to canvass support for Interlinking Indian rivers scheme. Based on efforts taken by Rajinikanth and others, Prime minister announced committee to study River Interlinking scheme.
2004 Supported BJP-AIADMK alliance in Parliamentary elections and quoted PMK’s violence and BJP’s support to interlinking of Indian rivers as reason for his support. But the alliance failed to win any seats.

Controversies
Political

Arising out of his involvement in politics

There are two types of politics involving him; 1. Whether he supports a party or not. 2. parties that he is not involved which is run by the rumours, media and his fans own politics.
He did not participate in agitation sponsored by Tamil film artistes in Neyveli protesting against Karnataka’s refusal to release Cauvery water. Instead he participated in token fasting at chennai. Bharathiraja who organized agitation attacked him vehemently and assigned bad intentions for his non participation in the agitation.
PMK leader Ramadoss condemned his Baba movie for his posture with cigarette. He criticised him for spoiling Tamil youth by glorifying smoking and drinking. PMK volunteers attacked theatres which screened Baba movie and usurped film roles and burnt it.[9]. Famous film producers like M. Saravanan accused that cigarette smoking/drinking are shown in all movies and Rajini’s film was chosen by the PMK leader because of his popularity in Vanniar areas which is considered PMK bastion.
