'Rana' announcement soon

Director KS Ravikumar has confirmed that the shooting of 'Rana', which came to a halt after Superstar Rajinikanth fell ill, will resume soon and he is in the process of making things ready for the shoot. "Rajini sir is perfectly alright now and I am thrilled to work with him," he says.

The director, who had earlier given blockbusters 'Muthu' and 'Padayappa' with Rajini, says, "Work for Rana is on in full swing and give us a week's time, we will come out with an announcement on the shooting schedule. We are now finalising who will be part of the project and who is not."

Produced by Eros International in association with Soundarya Ashwin Rajinikanth's Ocher Studios, 'Rana' has Deepika Padukone and Ileana D'Cruz opposite the 'Thalaivar'. A R Rahman is composing the music and we learn that the Oscar-winner has already completed four songs.

Though Ravikumar is not ready to confirm the shooting date, it is learnt that 'Rana' would hit the floors in the first week of October. "Since only two weeks are left, the director is working overtime to ensure that all is well. Rajini is closely monitoring the developments," say sources.

Rajinis second heroine is Ileana

As reported earlier, every other day some piece of info or news about superstar Rajini’s upcoming film ‘Rana’ hits the press. The latest info is that Telugu cinema’s leading heroine Ileana D’Cruz a.k.a. Ileana has been signed up to play the second heroine in the hi-profile film.
While Bollywood’s Deepika Padukone has already been confirmed to play the lead opposite one of the three ‘Rajini’s in the film, Vidya Balan and Rekha were in talks to play the other two roles. While veteran Rekha is said to have opted out of the film due to problems vis-à-vis the payment of fee, Vidya Balan is said to be slightly unhappy that she has not yet been shown the full script.
It is now reported that Ileana, the ‘picture-perfect’ reigning queen of Tollywood, would be playing the role of the second heroine opposite Rajni. After more than three decades, Rajini would be seen playing a triple role in a film. K.S. Ravikumar, the director with the Midas’ Touch, is finalizing the script in a hurry.
Hema Malini, the yesteryear dream girl of Bollywood, is said to be in talks to play the third heroine in the film, sources say. The Tamil-speaking Hema has already starred alongside Rajni in his debut Hindi film ‘Andhaa Kaanoon’ as his elder sister. Meanwhile, Rajini and Ravikumar might be leaving for England in the first week of England to finalize Rajini’s looks in the film as well as the shooting spots.

Rajinikanth's Cameo RA.ONE

In his first tryst with the camera after the bout of illness, Rajinikanth will do a guest appearance for Shah Rukh Khan in RA.One. This will be a double whammy for millions of Rajini fans around the world, who had spent sleepless nights praying for their idol, and for SRK fans, who are waiting to see the romantic star in a never-before avatar. SRK has been maintaining that the film pays a tribute to the superstar's Robot. Rajini will shoot in Hyderabad for a sequence that has been set in his honour, said sources close to the crew. Besides the first-ever Rajni-Shah Rukh pairing, the cameo will also mark the iconic star's return to form.

Rajinikanth fans miffed with the Dirty Picture

Ekta Kapoor's "The Dirty Picture", based on the real life story of South siren Silk Smitha has been surrounded with many controversies since its launch. Be it the concept, the raunchy posters or the title itself, everything has been controversial. And this time the moviemakers have faced the wrath of some Rajinikanth fans. Fans of Rajinikanth are now demanding removal of those scenes that in anyway show Naseer (and thus Rajini) in a bad light.

Rajini's fans anxious

Rajini's fans are anxious because the superstar is yet to put in a public appearance. They feel the need to see him because only after they have seen him with their own eyes will they be assured about his return to good health. Out of deference to their wishes apparently Rajini is planning a big event the details about which will be released soon.
Doctors however have told him not to put undue strain on his constitution because though his illness has subsided the after effects still bother him occasionally. He has been building his strength by doing yoga and taking walks. Work on Rana has also begun.

Ajith wants Rajini to bash him up!

Ajith has received a lot of praise for his negative role in Mankatha. The actor, however, has just taken it all in his stride and is already hard at work on his next project Billa 2. In a recent interview, Ajith revealed that he is a huge fan of Rajini and it is his ambition to play the villain in a Rajini film and get bashed up by him.

Rajini fans angry over Dirty Picture?

The trailer of The Dirty Picture, a biopic on Silk Smita starring Vidya Balan is out and is creating waves across the country. Since Silk Smita was one of the original sex symbols it was not surprising to see Vidya Balan in creations designed to showcase her sex appeal.
Word leaked out that Naseerudin Shah's character portrayed in the trailer as a man who lusts after Silk Smita is inspired from Rajinikanth who has done a few films with the sultry siren back in the day. Rajini's fans of course have been in a fury ever since and are threatening the makers with violence.
The producers are dismissive about such reports saying that the fans are overreacting since Naseerudin plays an ageing star in the film whereas Rajini was in his prime when he worked with Silk Smita.

Rajini and Kamal's daughters work together

Aishwarya Dhanush is making her directorial debut with 3 starring hubby Dhanush and Shruti Haasan. The two ladies have known each other since childhood. The shooting for the film is happening in Chennai and important scenes with Dhanush and Shruti are being filmed.
Shruti was full of praise for Aishwarya and said that everything is organized and it is a pleasure to work with such a good team. Aishwarya was equally appreciative of Shruti and said that she always knew that Shruti will be a big star one day. Shruti has also congratulated Dhanush for being the youngest actor to win the national award in the best actor category.

Perarasu's ambition is to direct Rajini

Even the latest and the youngest entry into the Tamil film industry, irrespective of whether it is a debuting heroine or a technical person would love to bag a role to share screen space with the Superstar or direct him. Director Perarasu who got popular with his first film 'Thirupacchi' with Vijay and Trisha in the lead too has this as his ambition.

The director was recently in Erode to chair in a school function and distribute school books and notebooks. The director also revealed that his upcoming film 'Thriuthani' with Bharath, Sunaina and Raj Kiranin lead roles is nearing completion. The film will see Bharath donning twin roles. The director also revealed that 'Thiruthani' is getting ready for a Diwali lineup. The director who is eternally thankful to Vijay who gave him a big break with his first film recently is reported to have said that his ambition in life was to direct the Superstar!

Because the director also revealed that he has prepared a story, screenplay, script, as well as dialogues tailor-made for the Superstar! Changes in 'Rana' script

Certain changes are being made to the original script of 'Rana' considering the health condition of Superstar Rajinikanth, who recently underwent treatment for kidney related ailment at a Singapore hospital.

This has been confirmed by lyricist Vairamuthu, who called on the top actor recently at Sri Raghavendra Kalyana Mandapam in Kodambakkam. "I was so happy to meet Rajini after a gap," he says.

Vairamuthu adds: "Rajini is perfectly alright. And he is in a very good mood, cracking jokes and analyzing things in his own style. But still, some minor changes are being made to Rana as director KS Ravikumar is not ready to give any strain to the Superstar."

"We discussed many issues in the meeting that lasted for 45 minutes. The topics we covered including literature, politics, philosophy and life. Rajini is happy with the care and concern showered on him by Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, DMK president M Karunanidhi and of course, his fans."
