A lift to Superstar in bike - The police cop narrates!!
Rajini was rushing for Endhiran shooting to Minjur last week. Every day the shooting starts at 8 PM and ends next day early morning. Rajini was commuting to Minjur everyday from his home in Boes garden. Last week he was stuck in the traffic jam near Manali due to Container lorry strike and jam stretched for 5 to 6 Kms. Rajini was sitting patiently in his Qualis car.
As everyone knows Rajini is very punctual for the shooting. He started early but stuck in the traffic jam and the Endhiran crew was getting worried. They came to know about the traffic jam.SS asked his driver to get the traffic police officer standing there. The driver told the cop that “ A VIP in the car wants to see you”. The cop was shocked to see SS. Immediately SS asked him “ I have a shooting at Minjur, can you please give me a lift?”. Shocked and pleasantly surprised the cop replied “Sir why not..how can I say no to you!!”. He left the car and came back in a few minutes with a new helmet and Raincoat and asked SS to wear this.
For 50 minutes the cop drove the bike safely and reached the shooting spot. We after lot of difficulties talked to the cop. He refused initially and reluctantly agreed to talk without revealing his name or photo.“I was shocked to see Rajini in the car. Sir is that you?. He talked to me about the urgency of the shooting”. I gave him the helmet and Rain coat to mask his identity. Another cop followed me. I already know that Rajini goes night rounds in Bike. But this is the first time he is going in someone’s bike after long time.
Ok. How was the conversation in the Bike?He called my name and confirmed it’s my name. Asked me about his family; He asked me “Do you know why I’m rushing to the shooting?. If I don’t go know that will be too much loss for the producer. Do you know how many people are waiting for me? It’s such a big unit.” I understood he didn’t want cause difficulty to anyone.
How about the drive itself?Since it’s a two wheeler I was able to do zig zag and go through the jam. In some places we asked people to give way and Rajini also did the same. At one time when I was going fast he had some difficulties keeping his leg up since the foot rest was not good. He held on to my shoulders tightly. Then I realized the foot rest was not ok. I asked him if he wants to change to the other Bike and he said no problem, let’s continue.

He asked the still photographer to take some photos. He said “They are not taking photos with me, But I’m taking photos with them”. We cannot forget the 13 KM, 50 minutes ride in our life.
