Rajini, Kamal films in Russia

Attempts are being made to screen Tamil blockbusters, including Rajinikanth’s ‘Muthu’ and Kamal Hassan’s ‘Vettaiyadu Vilayadu’ in Russia, along with some of the evergreen classics of Tamil cinema.
The Indo-Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industries is holding discussions with producers of movies like ‘Saraswati Sabatham’, ‘Vasantha Maligai’ and ‘Pudhiya Paravai’, according to the Chamber’s secretary P Thangappan. Thangappan was quoted as saying that a Russian Film Festival will be organised in Chennai in December, which will be followed by an Indian Film Festival in January 2010 in Moscow, the Russian capital.
Production companies such as Kavithalaya are in discussion with the Chamber to screen ‘Muthu’ in Russian cities. ‘Punnagai Mannan’ and ‘Netri Kann’ also figure in the list. Also, Kamal-starrer ‘Vettaiyadu Vilaiyadu’, which is being dubbed in Hindi as ‘The Smart Hunt’, will also hit the Russian cinema halls.
The film’s producer Manicam Narayanan said, “The subject is unique and would attract Hindi audience. It will be screened in Russia with sub-titles.”
