Vennila Kabbadi Kuzhu director Suseendran seems to have another interesting offer on the cards. He has been approached by Nick Arts Chakravarthy to produce a film for this banner. If materialized, this movie would star debutants and have an interesting story line. Besides, it is also worth remembering that Suseendran is speculated to be considered for a project produced by Ocher Studios, partially owned by Soundarya Rajinikanth.
Interestingly, as is known, impressed with Vennila Kabbadi Kuzhu, Rajinikanth recently called on the cast and crew of the movie. Director Suseendran, however, missed the meeting unfortunately as he was away on another assignment. That did not deprive him of the opportunity to meet the superstar though. Suseendran met Rajini recently on his personal invitation over a cup of coffee.
The best voice for Superstar?
Sometimes, in the excitement of novelty we tend to forget the reliable elements that have been with us for a long time. There is always a tendency to celebrate what is new and blissfully ignore the good old things. While the change towards new and fresh is quite a natural process, it does not always serve well to overlook the goodness of what we have had for a long time. In cinema especially, success and stardom are overnight acquisitions, while oblivion is just around the corner for anyone whose fortunes are not great at a given point of time.
Who is Superstar’s voice? The question might not be clear. It means, who is the best person to lend his voice to the Superstar on screen. Many have sung for Superstar, but only few of them have managed to match the fans’ imagination of how Superstar would sound like if he sings. Many would be already thinking of SPB and how well he has sung for Superstar over the years. Yes, SPB has been an almost inseparable element of Superstar movies for well over a decade now. His voice has matched Superstar so
well that it has become hard to imagine anyone else singing the intro song. Many even say that an SPB rendered intro song is a must for the success of a Superstar movie, a sentiment that was ingrained after the rather lackluster performance of Baba and Kuselan, both of which did not have SPB doing the intro song. But, are we forgetting someone? Not just Superstar songs, try naming all singers that you know. Most would list Hariharan, Unnikrishnan, Shankar Mahadevan, Jesudas and many other leading voices, but almost everyone ends up missing one prominent name- Malaysia Vasudevan.
For the younger generation, this might not be a familiar name. But there cannot be any lack of familiarity with songs like ‘Podhuvaga En Manassu’ from Murattukalai, 'Naan Pokkirikku' from Pokkiri Raja, 'Aagaya Gangai' from Dharmayutham, 'Manidhan Manidhan' from Manidhan or ‘Aasai Nooru Vagai’ from Adutha Vaarisu. While these songs are immensely liked even today, the voice behind them is forgotten. It is sad that Malaysia Vasudevan, the singer, got lost sometime during the last decade of the 20th century. Why, we don’t know, but we are sure that he was still as good a singer as ever when he last sang in Tamil cinema.

Talking too much about Malaysia Vasudevan’s Rajini hits might amount to doing injustice to the singer as there is the chance of him being perceived as one dimensional by those who don’t know much about him. So, it is necessary that some of his other evergreen hits too be looked at. ‘Vettiveru vasam’ from Mudhal Mariyadai, ‘Katta vandi katta vandi’ from Sakalakalavallavan, 'Vaan Megangalae' from puthiya varpugal, 'Indha Minminikku' from sigappu rojakkal, ‘Aayiram Malargalae’ from Niram Maradha Pookal are some of his non-Superstar superhits.

Till now, Rajini has only experimented with different hairstyles or costumes, but has never gone this route. His latest 'new' look could be the bald look he sported in 'Sivaji.' Shankar however wanted Rajini to do something very new, and he has done that in 'Endhiran.' After dancing to Raju Sundaram's choreography in Peru, the 'Enbdhiran' team shifted location to Ambur.
That's when Shanbkar has told Rajjini that he should look as if he has pile don atleast 20 kgs. Following that, Rajini has increased his intake of non-veg food.

Rajini’s cameraman in Ninaithale Inikkum
Cameraman R Rathnavelu will wield his camera for a single song in Ninaithale Inikkum. Rathnavelu, though has his hands full with Endhiran, has decided to help GNR Kumaravelan – the director of Ninaithale Inikkum. According to the director, Rathnavelu agreed to it because he happens to be his close friend.
Kumaravelan said that Ninaithale Inikkum has almost been wrapped up and its cameraman Balasubramaniam moved on to his next project Kutti
which has Dhanush in the lead. Owing to this unavailability, the team of Ninaithale Inikkum had been scouting for a cameraman and Rathnavelu chipped in to help.

Dasavatharam inspires Endhiran
What if Shankar has tightened the security measures making Pentagon to look like an easy place to duck out secrets, news about his forthcoming sci-fi magnum opus Endhiran are dime a dozen. While recent news suggested that the famous Danny Denzongpa will play villain in Endhiran, there is also news that a fight sequence will be the highlight of the film. Not one of those scenes with Danny and Rajini, but with two Rajinis.
As is known, Rajini plays dual role in the movie of that of a scientist and a Robot, developed by the scientist. The action hair-strand-raising sequences were filmed recently with stunt director Peter Hein choreographing the scenes. The fight is said to happen inside an enclosed glass cabinet.

Question: Speaking of Rajini, you did three films with him - Annamalai, Basha, and Baba. Again, the former two were super hits, and the latter was a disaster! What went wrong with Baba, which I see as a good film that was close to Rajini’s real-life personality?
Suresh Krissna: First thing I’d want to clarify is that Baba was a not disaster but was a super hit film! The film was made under 10 crores and collected between 25-30 crores. At that time, the government permitted raising the ticket rates during the initial days of film’s release, and the tickets went up rates as high as Rs. 500/- to Rs. 2000/- in most areas! The film collected more than the complete run of Annamalai in just three weeks because of this! Also, it opened with maximum number of prints. The reason people say it was a disaster because they over-expected the run and bought the film at a very high price. When they didn’t get that much money, they said it’s a flop, though it wasn’t. As you said, Baba was a good film with story and screenplay by Rajini and is thus definetly close to his heart.
Question: And, Basha was a free-make of Amitabh’s Hum! I also heard that the film was plannd to have a linear narration first but that Rajinikant and fight master Vijayan suggested that the flashback episode should come later. Is that true?
Suresh Krissna: I agree that Basha had shades of Hum, and that the film was definetly inspired by Hum but had a completely different treatment. Basha went on to become such a huge success that every hero wanted to do a clone of it, and that trend is still continuing even now! Rajini and Vijayan suggesting the flashback episode is not true. The film’s basic plot starts with Rajini going to get a seat in the Medical College for his sister. From there on, the film tempo starts off and that was how we planned it originally too.
Question: You did with top stars like Rajini, Kamal, Mohanlal, and Chiranjeevi in South India, but it seems like you didn’t concentrate so much in Bollywood. Given a chance, who do you like to work with in Hindi?
Suresh Krissna: I did three Hindi films and each one took more than a year to complete. Thus, I am not really comfortable working in Hindi, but if I get a chance, I’ll definetly like to do a film with Amit-ji - it will be a dream come true for me! Whenever I am directing a top star, I think about Amitabh-ji in my mind. Rajini and Kamal always tease me on this!

Superstar in India Today's Top 50 powerful persons
India Today, the leading political magazines in India ranked our Superstar as one the top 50 influenced persons in Indian non political arena. Termed as the highly paid actor in the South Film Industry, the magazine says that there is no celebration in Indian cinema without our Superstar Rajinikanth.
India Today is well known as the strong criticiser of Rajini in various occassions, now acceppted that Rajini is the only actor who returned crores of money to the exhibitors and distributors who suffered a lot during ther release of Baba and Kuselan.
The magazine gave the rank of 28 among the top 50 most powerful persons of India with the title of Pugazh Mannan (The King of Fame).

The 3-D animated movie Sultan - The Warrior featuring Rajnikanth, has been in the news for too long. this film, directed by Rajnikanth’s daughter Soundarya, is that it will finally hit screens this May.
The 3-D animated movie, produced by Ocher Studios in association with Adlabs and Big Pictures, had music by A.R.Rahman and is made at a budget of Rs 60 crore.
Though initially, the film was reported as a full-length animation film, the latest news is that at a stage the animated Rajnikanth will give way to the real Rajnikanth, a strategy worked out obviously on account of the superstar’s sway upon the box-office.

Rahul Dev, the model turned villain who has done a lot of Hindi and Telugu films as villain is going to play the bad man in Rajinikanth’s Sultan The Warrior, produced and directed by his daughter Soundarya Rajinikanth.
Rahul Dev, who was in Chennai to unveil the new collection of Bollywood designer Narendra Kumar, at Studio Saks, the upmarket designer store said: “Who would not like to play the villain opposite the living legend of Indian cinema Rajinikanth? He is truly an icon and I have to thank Soundarya for offering me the role of the villain in Sultan The Warrior. For the first time an animated film is being made on an Indian actor and I’m honoured to be part of it.”
The handsome hunk has been a very popular villain in Telugu films and has also played the bad man in three Tamil films- Mazhai, Muni, Arasangam. Now his chance to be paired opposite the superstar, gives Rahul an opportunity to be seen by a larger section of the audiences.
