Superstar Rajinikanth’s association with Thiruvannamalai, a temple town in Tamil Nadu, is an open secret. While the title of one of his films is ‘Annamalai’ itself, the top actor christened his other movie as ‘Arunachalam’, the name of the Lord here.
And a couple of production houses floated by Rajini were named as Annamalai Cine Combines (which produced ‘Arunachalam’) and Arunachala Cine Creations (which made ‘Padayappa’).
Also, nearly a decade ago, Rajini donated lamps to illuminate the entire Girivalam path to ensure that devotees who throng the holly hill on Pournami nights perform their spiritual duty without any hindrance.
And now, the staunch devotee of Lord Arunachaleswarar has come forward to offer lamps to decorate the Gopurams of the world renowned shrine. This follows a request from the temple authorities.
According to sources, trustees of the Thiruvannamalai temple recently approached Rajini with a request to donate lights for the towers. And the Superstar was only very happy to accept their obligation.
And what more? Rajini has promised that he would ensure that the lamps would be installed in all Gopurams before Karthigai Deepam (November 21).
Following this, an expert team from a famous lighting solutions company is visiting the temple today following Rajini’s instruction.
