Pushpa Kandasamy on Kuselan and its rumours…
Kavithaalaya’s Pushpa Kandasamy brushed aside allegations by the exhibitors that they have been misguided by the production house regarding the movie.
Speaking to Daily Thanthi she said,”Kuselan was born from the Malayalam movie Katha Parayumbol in which the Malayalam Superstar Mammooty has performed a guest role. Since Rajini has acted in this movie as an actor, director P.Vasu has created and added a few more scenes for Rajini.
On the launch of this movie itself Rajini had openly said that his contribution in this film will be 25%, Vadivelu’s will be 25% and Pasupathi will be 50%.
Those who have watched the Malayalam version will know how much screen presence was given to Mammooty and how much more is given to Rajini. Inspite of knowing these informations, few have started talking that this movie did not get the response from the fans and audience as expected. We have not made this film by hiding any of the facts.
Pyramid Saimira who have bought this film and screened it, saw this film 1 week prior to the release and were fully satisfied. From this itself one can understand that we have not sold this film by hiding the facts.
Screening this film in many number of theaters, increasing the ticket fares of this film are few of the reasons which denied the film the response it deserves.
This is a family subject. Ladies will certainly watch and enjoy this film. If the ads for this film are focussed in this direction, definitely the film will keep getting the patronage of the ladies crowd.
If we had made a film based on a new story, then they could have said that they did not know the story. But, people who bought this film and those who screened all have seen the Malayalam version. Now how can they complain that Rajini’s portion in this movie is very less?
Now the same story is being made in Hindi by Shahrukh Khan with the title “Billoo Barber” and he himself is portraying the role essayed by Rajini in Tamil. He has started this project only the confidence he has on this story.
We did not hide anything about this film. Also, there is absolutely no thought of adding any new scenes in this film.”
