It’s the year of celebration for Tamil cinema as it steps its foot on its 75th birthday. To celebrate the occasion, the president of Tamil Cinema Federation Sarathkumar earlier planned to conduct a star night in Malaysia and Singapore in August. It was also informed that the non-attendees of this event would receive a red card.
Despite this announcement and due to non-availability of many big names, the star night was however postponed to January for which many thought all the kingpins would grace the event with their presence. However, as it turned out that, Rajini and Kamal Haasan are said to have turned down the invitation.
Besides, it is also rumored that many stars feel awkward attending such star nights on a regular basis, which are conducted mainly for raising money. And it seems many would actually turn their back to the invitation. As the two biggies have shown their disinterest, others might just follow suit.
