I can only play the hero: Rajinikanth

Rajinikanth is fit as a fiddle and raring to go.
The superstar of Tamil cinema, made his first public appearance on Saturday (October 29) at a felicitation ceremony for director SP Muthuraman, with whom he had worked in 25 films.
Appearing at a public function for the first time, after his return from Singapore he was spotted in a blue jeans and a white cotton shirt. The actor looked rejuvenated and fit as a fiddle, completely cured of his illness, which had earlier left his fans distraught.
The superstar said he wanted to make his first public appearance at the Sankara Ratna Award being conferred on SP Muthuraman. Rajinikanth at the function said: “  Now that I’m fully cured, thanks to prayers and fans love, I thought that I will make my first appearance at SPM felicitation function. I have done 25 films with him and consider him as one of my mentors.”
Rajinikanth made it clear that his priorities are to play the hero till the end. The superstar said among thunderous applause : “I have no retirement plans.  As a hero my only talent which attracted the viewers is my speed and style on screen. I’m not Sivaji Ganesan or Kamal Haasan who have excelled by their acting powers’. I can only play the hero and as long as I have energy and good health I will continue to act.”

Rajini all praises for Suriya!

Superstar Rajinikanth showered accolades on Suriya for his performance as a Buddhist monk and circus artiste in '7aum Arivu'. A special show was screened for the top actor in Chennai on Wednesday, after which he appreciated Suriya.

"Rajini sir patted Suriya and expressed that his performance in the film was a good one. He described the movie as 'excellent' and appreciated the efforts of director AR Murugadoss and producer Udhayanidhi Stalin," sources say.

Udhayanidhi on his microblogging page has expressed happiness about the Superstar watching the movie. Meanwhile Suriya and Murugadoss have been telling those close to them about the encouraging gesture of the numero uno actor.

In the meantime, Rajini had also watched 'Ra.One' at a special screening in Chennai, with his family members. Remember the Superstar had performed a cameo in the Shah Rukh Khan starrer, which is pulling crowd to theatres.

SRK’s Ra.One Waiting for Robo Rajini

South Indian Super Star Rajinikanth’s Blockbuster movie Endhiran, yielded better results not only in Indian but beyond that and now Bollywood Baadshah who has roped in Rajinikanth for Ra.One waiting Rajini’s blessings for the film, as well.

SRK who was recently in Chennai on the film’s promotion said:

“Rajini sir’s scene was there when I wrote the script with my director and initially only, we had decided that Rajini sir should come out when superhero comes in front of him. I don’t want to misutilise his scene. I am sure I will show it on Television when it is ready. I will try to make a small trailer of Rajini sir and you can enjoy watching him on screen.”

Rajinikanth prays at Tirumala Temple

Tamil superstar Rajinikanth, who is on a thanks giving visit after recovering from ailment recently, offered prayers at the famous hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala today.

Rajinikanth, an ardent devotee of Lord Venkateswara, was accompanied by his wife Latha, daughters Aishwarya and Soundarya and sons-in-law Danush and Aswin besides Telugu film star Mohanbabu, temple sources said.

They spent about 30 minutes inside the temple, the sources said.

Family sources said the 61-year-old actor undertook the visit to pay his thanks to the Lord for his speedy recovery from the ailments he suffered in May.

Rajinikanth had last visited the shrine after the wedding of his daughter Soundarya with Ashwin on September 9 last year.

The actor, who took ill during the shoot of the film Rana in April, underwent treatment at a hospital in Singapore for reported kidney problem.

SRK on Rajini

Shah Rukh visited Bangalore as a part of his promotions for his upcoming mega budget movie Ra.One. He is travelling all over India and Bangalore was his stop during his South Indian leg of the promotional trip. Besotted fans were seen thronging the mall and the surroundings to catch a glimpse of the superstar during his appearance.
He greeted his fans in Kannada and answered a few fan questions. He also talked about Superstar Rajini’s cameo for Ra.One, remembering him fondly. “We weren’t sure he would be part of the movie but he surprised us all by coming for the shoots,” he said. He also mentioned that most his scenes were shot in Chennai and for the difficult scenes, a body double was used.

Kamal praises Rajini

The friendship between Rajini and Kamal is heartwarming. The two stars share a great rapport and are always full of praise for each other. Their respective fans are also friendly as a result.
Recently, in the film Anbulla Kamal which is the dubbed version of Malayalam film, Four Friends, Kamal makes a reference to Rajini. He is asked about the forces that have made him the actor he is today and he names MGR, Sivaji and Rajini! It is a beautiful sentiment and Rajini was touched we hear.

Its official: Rajini to start 'Rana'

Rajini fans are in for some good news. The Superstar's magnum opus 'Rana', which hit a roadblock after he fell ill, is finally set to restart, that too at the earliest. This has been confirmed by none other than the top actor's younger daughter Soundarya Ashwin, who is closely associated with the project.

"Appa is completely alright. He is fit, fine and brimming with energy. The Superstar is keen to start Rana's shoot and an official announcement will be made very soon," says Soundarya, who is producing the movie in association with Eros International.

Saying that 'Sultan The Warrior', her dream project which has Rajini in the lead, has underwent a major overhaul, the owner of Ocher Studios adds: "KS Ravikumar has taken charge of story and dialogue departments. For the first time in India, we have used Performance Capture technology."

On 'Ra One', the Shahrukh Khan starrer in which Rajini has done a guest appearance, Soundarya says, "It will be a powerful cameo in which appa has played Chitti, a role he did in Enthiran. Shahrukh and others were so happy to have the Superstar on board. So was Rajini."

Shah Rukh Khan is pumping the publicity machine big time to generate a huge buzz around Ra One. With the announcement that Rajini will be doing a special appearance in his film, the expectations have hit the roof.

தலைவர் மணமக்களை வாழ்த்திவிட்டு திரும்பியபோது, அவரை தனது செல்போனில் புகைப்படமேடுத்துக்கொண்டிருந்த நம் நண்பருக்கு கைகள் ஏனோ நடுங்கியது. இருப்பினும் அட்ஜெஸ்ட் செய்து க்ளிக்கினார். சூப்பர் ஸ்டார் சற்று அருகே போகும்போது, இவர் அருகே ஓடிச் சென்று கைகுலுக்க, பதிலுக்கு கைகுலுக்கிய தலைவர், நண்பரின் தோளை தட்டிவிட்டு சென்றது தான் ஹைலைட். (அவர் தான் விடுற மூச்சுலயே ஜாதகத்தை அலசுறவராச்சே!)
தலைவரை பார்த்து நண்பர் கைகொடுத்த விஷயத்தை கேள்விப்பட்ட நம் நண்பரின் நண்பர்கள் சிலர், “கையை பாலிதீன் கவர்ல சுத்தி கட்டிட்டு (பாய்ஸ் சித்தார்த் கணக்கா) படுத்துக்கோ. மறந்து போய் கூட கையை நனைச்சிடாதே! நீ குளிக்கலேன்னா ஒன்னும் ஆகிடாது…” அப்படின்னு, சொல்லி(மிரட்டி) வெச்சிருக்காங்களாம் ! (ஹி..ஹி…!!)

Badshah meets the Boss

While launching the audio for the Tamil version of his superhero flick, RA.One, Shah Rukh Khan met legendary actor Rajinikanth in Chennai.

The King Khan spent about 30-35 minutes with the Thalaivar. "I had a cup of coffee with him, he gave me coconut water. I spent about half an hour with him and he was cheerful and happy and he was wishing me luck for my film," SRK told NDTV.

"You know I can't compare myself with the great Rajini sir. I wanted to take his blessings, to be a part of the film. So he himself and his wife sent me dinner- they are such kind people. So, I just wanted to go and thank them personally. And I was happy to see him full hale and healthy, it was really nice to see him and to convey my regards of everyone in the unit," SRK said.

Looking pretty between the two superstars is Rajinikanth's daugther Soundarya, who facilitated Rajini's cameo in RA.One.

Actor-producer Lakshmi Manchu finally tweeted the image millions of superstar Rajinikanth's fans have been waiting for.

"Met w Rajinikanth uncle. He looks fabulous. Feels great. Was so great to see him. Will upload pic soon. :) our SUPER STAR is backkk stronger," Lakshmi Manchu tweeted on September 28, promising to post a pic.

That promise was fulfilled just hours ago, and this is the pic she posted.

The superstar has been away from the public eye since returning to Chennai from Singapore in July after treatment.

This week his other somewhat public but closely-guarded appearance was a brief visit to the sets of Shah Rukh Khan's Ra. One to shoot a cameo.
